ZEALing Around the World
” Live life with no regrets, travel with no excuses. “
To experience other cultures is such an expanding experience of the soul. To have a respect for others allows us to connect in the great circle of life. I’ve always enjoyed traveling. The new adventure allows me to escape the pressures of life – living with no regrets, and only exploring the destination of growth. One of my favorite destinations is Havana, Cuba. I always wondered about the country, having heard so much about its oppressive way of living, the infamous Castro and revolutions. The amazing gift of Cuba is its people. I’ve never been to a country where the people were so kind and giving, although they live daily with limited means. Spending several days in Havana, exploring great sites and consuming flavors of their heritage was blissful. And those cars, yes they’re fun! What smiles they bring just thinking about the day of exploring.
Unforgettable Experience in Havana
I spent a few hours with a family in Havana, through Airbnb experiences. They lived in a wonderful eclectic style house, that reminded me of what you’d see in New Orleans. Their glowing smiles immediately welcomed visitors to their home. The mother spoke no English, but her millennial daughter fluently explained that we’d cook a meal of Cuban Flank Steak, Plantains, Black Beans, Rice and a refreshing Mojito to top things off. The experience was so fun, and I learned so much. This was a memorable experience I’ll never forget.
Challenge yourself the next time you travel to really connect with the people. The next time I hear something about Cuba, I’ll filter it with my warm experiences and won’t be influenced by third-parties because I got close and personal with what Cuba is really about – its people.
